As summer approaches, it is important to remember your eye safety and health. At Valley Eyecare Center, we’ve compiled a list of eye care tips for the hotter months.
Eye Care Tips for the Summer
Sunglasses are a must—Sunglasses are important no matter what month it is, but the summer months are especially crucial, as the sun’s rays are more intense during the summer. Sunglasses can protect your eyes from the damaging rays of the sun, and they are an eye care must!
Wear goggles at the pool—If you’re planning to take a dip into the pool, make sure to bring goggles with you because they can protect your eyes from the chemicals used to keep pools clean. Public pools typically have more chemicals than private pools, so if you’re going on vacation, goggles are especially important.
Schedule an annual eye exam for your child—As the kids get out of school for the summer, it is a great time to take them in to check on their eyes. Your child’s vision can change as he or she grows, so it’s important to make sure that his or her prescription has not changed.
Eat right, and drink plenty of water—Eating right is important in order to maintain proper eye care. Although it may be easy to eat junk food throughout the summer, especially if you’re traveling, make sure to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables so that you get all the vitamins and minerals your body needs. Vitamin A and E both boost vision health, so make sure to get the proper amount of these essential nutrients! Water also helps to reduce eye strain and helps to keep your body properly hydrated and functioning.
