Celebrating One Year with Valley Eyecare Center!
At Valley Eyecare Center, our team is the heart of everything we do—and this month, we’re thrilled to shine the spotlight on Angel, one of our dedicated Optometric Technicians, as she celebrates her one-year anniversary with us!
Angel brings a calm presence, sharp attention to detail, and a passion for patient care to her role each day. From assisting with testing to helping Spanish-speaking patients feel comfortable and understood, she’s truly an essential part of our team.
We sat down with Angel to learn more about her journey, what inspires her, and what she loves most about working in eye care.
Q: What was your first job or most unusual job before working at Valley Eyecare Center?
Angel: My first job was a seasonal position at PacSun during the holidays at Fashion Square. It was a fun experience that taught me a lot about working with people.
Q: What inspired you to pursue a career in eye care?
Angel: A good friend of mine was working as an optometric technician, and hearing about her experience piqued my interest. I’m so glad I followed that path—it’s been rewarding in so many ways.
Q: Can you share a patient interaction that’s made a lasting impression?
Angel: Absolutely. I was testing a patient on the Optomap when we discovered something urgent. We immediately sent them to the emergency room. Knowing that I played a role in catching something serious in time made a huge impact on me.
Q: What does a typical day look like for you?
Angel: I do a bit of everything—from testing patients on machines like the Optomap and taking blood pressure to reviewing health history. I also assist with translations for our Spanish-speaking patients and occasionally help out at the front desk or with dispensing.
Q: Is there a particular part of eye care or new tech that excites you?
Angel: I really find OCT imaging for glaucoma fascinating. It’s incredible how much we can see and monitor through advanced technology like that.
Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Angel: I’m all about spending time with family and loved ones. That’s what matters most to me.
Q: Just for fun—what’s your favorite food and movie?
Angel: Hands down, green enchiladas are my favorite! And I love watching A Bronx Tale—it’s a classic.
Angel, thank you for your hard work, compassion, and dedication. We’re lucky to have you on the Valley Eyecare Center team, and we’re excited to celebrate this milestone with you. Here’s to many more great years ahead.
